Young M.A Gives Montreal Her First & Craziest Performance Ever!
Yeah They Hate But They….

Young M.A Still Has The ”OUUUUU” Effect
At some point during the last year, you’veprobably shouted the notorious adlib”Ooouuu” from the single who made you discover the Brooklyn femcee of the year: Young M.A. You might as well have screamed the anthem at the top of your lungs at a social gathering of some sort. However, you got to know on thing about M.A, you can’t ignore her energy and lyrical talent.

If this never happened to you it’s probably because you were hidden under a rock at that time. Speaking of which, it was at the Olympia theater that none other then Young M.A. came for the first time in Montreal to rock the mic for a thousand of Montrealers.
It was great to see the promoters giving a platform for a lot of Montreal’s artists community and they also had two DJ sets. After the local acts heated up the place, the New York femcee finally appeared on stage and she was ready for the kill.

The crowd that patiently waited for Young M.A couldn’t have been more excited. The love in the crowd was real and the ”Hot Sauce” rapper definitely gave that love back.
She made sure to perform as close as possible to the public and she shook hands with the fans. She even took the time to put the lights on the fans to share a snapchat with them near the end of the show.
From Youtube To Real Life
I remember vividly that the first thing that came to my mind was : ”The Young M.A you get on Youtube is the same Young M.A you get in real life”. What you see is what you get with this rapper; she is not compromising for nothing.
Performing ”Self M.Ade”, ”Get this Money”, ”Ooouuu” and more hits in her arsenal. She had the crowd jamming and singing her songs bar for bar.

The energy she brought on stage was well received by the crowd to the point where she litteraly had her fans jamming to her fave reggae songs too. Though some might say it took away from hearing her beats, it was still a good vibe and and a pleasant surprise coming from her.

For Those Who Were Under That Rock
Young M.A. is a Brooklyn based artist who became popular after the radio hit ”OUUUUU”. She was well known in the underground scene for her pen game but that hit gave her a open door to a much larger crowd.
She became an instant star when Funk Master Flex and major radio stations started playing her single. The 25 year old artist even had the Lil Kim posting a video of herself listening to the song on Instagram.
Since then, she realeased the Sleep Walkin mixtape and the Herstory EP. Some predicted that she would be a breath of fresh air for NYC’s rap scene and a game changer. Let’s see what the future holds for this young artist.

Born To Rise: Where Powerful Stories & Inspiring Individuals Collide!
You Had To Be There!

Learning To Rise Through Hardship
Aiesha Robinson founded Born To Rise in 2015. This year was the third annual show of Born To Rise. Aiesha herself is no stranger to hardship.

She has had her own struggle which inspired the birth of Born to Rise. She suffers from Vitiligo. Vitiligo is an immune disorder in which the body stops producing pigment in different areas.
You can be diagnosed with Vitiligo at any age. Aiesha was diagnosed during her time studying at Dawson College. A friend of hers who also suffered from Vitiligo brought it to her attention. Aiesha was then diagnosed by a professional.
Aiesha was in denial at first. She endured a lot of judgement for a condition that is uncontrollable . It got to the point where Aiesha had thoughts of death. She believed she could not live life to the fullest with her disease. After going through her own difficult journey with her illness, she decided to start Born To Rise to help others.
No one should feel alone and Born to Rise helps broaden people’s perspective of their own struggle and educate them in the process. Born To Rise helps give those a voice who otherwise would be silenced in their struggle.

All of the performances that took place were put on by people who came together and shared their own experience of life’s hardships with the audience. Their intent is to inspire and bring together people as a community. You can rise up from difficult obstacles life may place in your path.

cc: borntorise.mtl
The variety of people who spoke through experience meant that there would be at least one person you could relate to, if not open your mind further.
To name a few of those experiences : growing up in the projects and moving beyond violence, the psychological impact of Alopecia ( hair loss ) , learning the piano by ear and becoming a pianist , finding God, being diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer, immigration hardships, to the loss of your own child and leaving an abusive relationship.

Born To Rise was very real, raw, touching, educating and inspiring. I admire all of those who shared their story with the audience.
No matter how hard the storm may be , do not give up, move forward.
Born To Rise helps us to stop, think and re-evaluate things in our own lives and see the bigger picture regardless of what we ourselves are going through. The performers of Born To Rise are living proof you can encourage others to continue through the rain during a storm to get to where you need to be. You after all were Born To Rise.

The Nike Air Max Bus Is A Museum In Motion About A Shoe That Changed The Sneaker World Since 1987!
In our trip to Toronto last week-end, we had the opportunity to have a close look at the Nike Air Max Bus at the Ultimate Sneaker Show presented by Soleexchange Canada.

For the 30th anniversary of the iconic sneaker, Nike decided to go the extra mile and literally turn their tour bus into the original 1987 Nike shoebox.
As our guide mentionned during the presentation, the Nike Air Max sneaker is more than a pair of shoes, it’s a piece of art. Even though it was mean’t to be a running shoe at first, it also became a fashion statement in the streetwear world.
Nike built the canvas for many different creatives and designers so they can add their artistic touch to the classic. Inside the Nike Air Max Bus, we saw the rarest pairs of Air Max 1’s like the “Safari”, “Bred 2015” and many other designs that Nike kept in the vaults.
Thanks to our phenomenal guide, Kwame, we’ve learned more about the complete genealogy of the shoe and how it was intentionally made to disrupt the market like it did a even to this day. The bus was covered with pictures of the previous ad campaigns, the key moments in the Air Max’s history and the slogan “Kiss My Airs”.
It was a trip down memory lane and we’ve learned many things about the mindset it took for Nike to be the sneaker giant it is today. When a sneaker brand gets their initial idea from an architect, you can tell it was here to stay (and they did for decades).
Today, you will get some exclusive pictures of the Nike Air Max Bus. The bus was located at the Ultimate Sneaker Show in Toronto.
“The Nike Air Max bus is a museum in motion! The sneakers were showcased as masterpieces because at the end of the day that’s exactly what they are right?!”
“The golden era.”
“This was the perfect opportunity for a sneaker enthusiast to revisit some of the rarest pairs ever made of the Air Max 1.”
“The walls were covered with pictures of the previous ad campaigns for the shoe and believe me when I say this : it will take you back in time but still give you a taste of the future.”
“The bus itself was a perfect reproduction of the original shoebox they made for the Air Mar 1 1987 (the details are sick!)”
“Iconic”
We also have a video recap of the whole experience here! You will have a closer look in the inside of the Nike Air Max Bus and a complete interview about the evolution of the shoe!
Visit The Bus For Yourself!
Since it’s an air max celebration, we would like to know what is your favorite pair of air max? What design, what year and why?
Let’s discuss about that in the comment section!
