The Book Club: Bossing Up Is Your New Go To Guide For Personal Growth (If You Didn’t Know)
”Bossing Up” Is The Mindset You Need In Your Life!
”Bossing Up” Is Your Go-To Guide To Personal Growth & Samantha Kris Is The Messenger!
Personal growth is a lifelong journey where you get to discover how to manifest the better you every single day. Samantha Kris is a success coach/author making this journey something that Montrealers can now feel, touch and achieve through her book called ”Bossing Up”.
The self-help industry nowadays is stuck with a bad rep. We expect a lot from authors and we always seem to question their credibility down the line.
Some books often reintroduce older concepts rather than present new ones and it gets misleading at times. Samantha Kris had to come with something different, something helpful, something tangible, credible and most of all something new!
I’ve personally been a part of an online community she created called ”Bossing Up”. What started as a cool Facebook group to me, literally became my virtual refuge for inspiration and collaborations.
Join The Community Too—-> Bossing Up
The purpose of the group was to help entrepreneurs connect, exchange, open up about their projects and create a genuine community around entrepreneurship. Little did I know, this group exploring the ”Bossing Up” mentality was the start of a bigger message that Miss Kris was about to share with the world.
Indeed, ”Bossing Up” as a guide/memoir explains how Miss Kris went on a successful journey that literally changed her life forever. Earning 5 consecutives promotions, growing her income exponentially and the launch of her own business in the process.
Today we will overview how ”Bossing Up” as a book/guide can show you various secrets about personal growth (and potentially change your life in the process)
About The Author
Samantha Kris is an author/success coach from Montreal that helps entrepreneurs build success plans to achieve their goals and increase their performance.
As an entrepreneur, it’s hard to fit her in only one category. Her expertise includes marketing, branding and many different things that made her an ultimate influencer in Montreal!
From the corporate world to owning her own business, Samantha Kris is known for making the most out of every opportunity and bringing people together to work on the bigger picture.
The Format Of The Book
The book is about 296 pages worth of information, resources, insights, personal experiences and also a personal ”Bossing Up Manifesto” that you can repeat to yourself every day.
The book contains several high-quality references to experts on topics like psychology, personal growth, business theories and goal achievement methods. I was very impressed to see quotes or references from Tony Robbins, Dale Carnegie all the way to Nelson Mandela as I was reading the book.
”Bossing Up” is far from the original format we see in self-help books. It has notes pages added at the end of each chapter to make sure you extract the precious gems now rather than later. It also has illustrations inside in order to keep you captivated and inspired.
As a plus value, the book applies to both entrepreneurs or professionals which is a great approach. It teaches you that ”Bossing Up” is a mindset you can apply to your workplace or your business.
You Will Feel A Strong Connection To The Author
Unlike a lot of self-help books/guides, the author always links her pieces of advice or methods to real life events that happened to her. Indeed, the author opens up about going through a divorce to pursue her dreams, a terrible car accident that changed her life and many other things.
From a reader’s perspective, you get to know Samantha Kris based on her life story and learn how they’ve influenced her journey. This connection allows you to understand her points even more because you understand how they can also impact your life.
The book will make you feel like you’re having real a conversation either with yourself or the author. Often times, books are meant to be a one-way dialogue but in ”Bossing Up”, the author makes sure that some of her points can be real debate materials.
Some of the chapters will make you reconsider your own life based on her life story. For example, Miss Kris mentioned early in the book that she had to figure out if being with her husband was slowing her down or not.
Feeling like her marriage and the perspective of building a family early in her life wasn’t what she had envisioned. She had to make the hardest choice someone could ever make to pursue what she really wanted.
What most authors would shy away because of public perceptions is actually what makes the book powerful. It’s more intimate and you feel like you can trust the author because she’s willing to be vulnerable for the sake of delivering her message.
”Bossing Up” Is For Everybody; Literally!
In this day and age, entrepreneurship became the ”Cool Thing To Do” rather than a lifestyle and mindset. They say you can work on your dream or you can work for somebody else’s dream so the 9to5er seems like the butt of all jokes today. The real question is :
Can Anybody Be An Entrepreneur?
I think Samantha Kris answers that question very well in the book. ”Bossing Up” is a guide for aspiring entrepreneurs but also for professionals who want to tap into personal growth in the corporate ladder.
The message is the same, whether it’s in the corporate world or IN the business world, you have to aim high, give yourself the chance to win and set REAL goals.
This approach allows professionals to have a shot too. With the rise of entrepreneurship, seeking a career in a prestigious field or by passion seemed like a thing of the past or not as powerful as it used to be.
The author didn’t let this audience left out and actually explained how she went from being the new girl at work to getting 5 promotions in a row and boost her income.
Simply put, everybody gets the ”Bossing Up” treatment.
”Bossing Up” Works On Your Mind, Body & Soul While Activating Real Personal Growth
Sometimes it’s crazy how people like to tell us what to do or how to think. People want you to do this or that because they had incredible results for themselves but without their initial game plan, you’re set for failure.
The author seemed very aware that this could be a potential roadblock for her readers. Indeed, the book attacks almost every aspect of your life.
Miss Kris breaks down everything you need to know from keeping your life balanced, establishing a strong network to creating yourself a roadmap to your success.
In my case, she made me realize that I had a lack of emotional intelligence. In the chapter called ”What You Weren’t Taught In School” and ”I’m All Ears”, I’ve learned that you can create tremendous results for yourself when you take the time to understand others.
By listening to them the right way, by making sure you communicate the right way either verbally or non-verbally. I was able to pinpoint some of my personal obstacles in the chapter ”Success Stoppers” which was very accurate to my current situation.
The book is complete and has several focal points that will turn out to be game changers for you if you give it a try.
”Bossing Up” Allows You To Ask Yourself The Right Questions
One aspect of the book that stayed with me through it all, is the power of clarity into someone’s life. Indeed, the author invites her readers to ask themselves what they want, why they want and how to get it.
This book puts you in a position where you have to everything on pause and take a look at who you are, what you’ve achieved so far and then question if whether or not you’re satisfied with the results.
This introspection process was a crucial part of the book. Sometimes we get caught in the cycle of life and we don’t spend the right amount asking ourselves questions, checking if we still have the bigger picture in mind or simply if what we do is still worth the effort.
Asking yourself the right questions will eventually put you on the right path, it’s a not theory at this point, it’s science.
The ”Bossing Up” Manifesto Is L-I-F-E
When the book was released, a powerful tool that came out of it for me was the ”Bossing Up Manifesto”. It implies the importance of self-talk, positive self-affirmations and it boosts your motivation to keep you going every day. A couple we’ve put together this video about what this manifesto is all about and you can now walk away with whenever you need it!
